If anyone is in danger right now, call 911 (or your local emergency number). In the US you can call or text 988 any time to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Project Autism is not a crisis service.
Disclaimer
Not professional advice
Project Autism and Our Space share people's real experience and general information about autism. Nothing here is medical, legal, educational or financial advice, and it isn't a diagnosis. Please check decisions about health, medicines, therapy, school plans or benefits with a doctor, therapist, school team or other qualified professional.
Answers in "Ask" are written by AI
- Answers in the Ask tab are written by an AI (Google's Gemini). It uses tips that members shared and a person approved, and careful general guidance when no tip fits.
- Answers that use a member's tip show which tip. General guidance is labelled as general guidance.
- AI can be wrong, out of date, or miss what matters for your situation. Treat answers as a starting point, not the final word.
- The AI won't diagnose, recommend medicines, doses, supplements or diets as treatment, or discuss unproven "cures".
Community posts are members' own views
- Posts and replies are written by members under a made-up community name. They share personal experience, which may not fit your situation.
- Every post, reply and tip is checked automatically before it appears, and a person reviews anything that's reported. We can't verify everything people say.
- Please don't post names, contact details, schools or anything that identifies you, your child or anyone else. No ads, selling or fundraising, and no medicine advice or "cures".
- If something worries you, use Report. It's hidden right away until we look at it. You can also write to info@projectautism.me.
Who can use what
- Our Space (Ask, Community, Tips) is for adults 18 and over: autistic adults, parents and caregivers.
- The Calm corner is for anyone, including children. It has no sign-in and collects nothing.
Privacy: what we keep and why
When you sign in to Our Space
- Your Google email and name, so you can sign in and so we can contact you if something goes wrong. Other members never see them; they only see the community name you choose.
- Your Ask conversations, saved to your account so you can come back to them. You can delete any conversation yourself.
- Tips you share. Before anyone else sees a tip, names, phone numbers, emails and addresses are removed automatically; ages, towns and clinic names stay because they help others. What you originally wrote is kept only until a person approves or rejects the tip, then deleted.
- Community posts and replies, shown under your community name.
- Questions the tips couldn't answer, saved without who asked, so someone can write a tip for them.
- Counts for daily limits (for example, how many questions you asked today), and reply notifications in your inbox.
Where it lives and who processes it
- Everything is stored in Google Cloud in the United States. Only the Our Space server can read the database; browsers can't.
- Your messages are sent to Google's Gemini AI to write answers and to check posts. Under Google Cloud's terms, this data isn't used to train Google's AI models. Google may keep it briefly to detect abuse of its service.
- Email for projectautism.me addresses, and reply emails when they're switched on, go through Cloudflare.
What we don't do
- No ads, no selling or sharing your data, no tracking or analytics cookies. Sign-in uses your browser's storage only to keep you signed in.
- The Calm corner saves your settings and any photos you add only on your own device. They are never uploaded.
Your choices
- Delete Ask conversations in Our Space at any time.
- Turn reply emails off in your Inbox, or with the link in any email.
- To delete your account and everything you've posted, write to info@projectautism.me from the email you sign in with. We'll do it within 30 days.
Changes and contact
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in Our Space. Questions or worries: info@projectautism.me.
